2012 Muay Thai Pro National Championship In Kemaman Friday And Saturday

KUALA TERENGGANU, Sept 19 (Bernama) -- The Kemaman Youth and Sports
Department is organising a two-day 2012 Muay Thai Pro National
Championship at the Padang Astaka in Cukai, Kemanan from Friday.
District Youth and Sports officer Ruhisyam Ibrahim said the sport or more well known as 'tomoi' would be contested in the professional and amateur categories.
"On the first day, all new boxers from Terengganu especially the Kemaman district will be given the opportunity to show their talent under the amateur category.
"The main event is the professional event on Saturday which will see professional Malaysian athletes who had been to Russia such as Muhammad Ali Yaakub representing 'Dragon Gym' and Ediey Selindang Kuning (Kirsty Gym), contesting," he told Bernama, here, today.

Among the other
professional athletes who had confirmed their registration for the
championship were Lokman (Kuda Merah), Lah (Kirsty Gym), Fikri (Jali
Lobo) and Abuza (Dragon Gym) to fight against fighters from Thailand.

PERSATUAN MUAYTHAI TERENGGANU di bawah perguruan muaythai KELAB MY-T KEMAMAN (Kemaman Dojang) dan SRI KLIMUNAN BINJAI diberi mandat oleh Persatuan Muaythai Malaysia untuk membantu menjayaakan pengurusan Muaythai Amatur sebagai langkah mempromosi sistem tomoi amatur yang mana telah diterima masuk sebagai salah satu sukan kombat SUKMA 2013 nanti.
Harapan PMT agar orang awam memahami sukan tomoi amatur ini tidak berbahaya dan seiring dengan sistem kombat yang lain seperti taekwondo, karate-do dan silat olahraga dari sudut keselamatan dalam pertandingan.
Perguruan-perguruan di Kemaman berpeluang menghantar Nakmuay mencuba sistem ini. Pada 7 September 2012 Kemaman Do-Jang telah mengadakan pertemuan dengan perguruan-perguruan seperti Sri Klimunan, Penyumas, Anak Kala, Taipan 3, Binjai Manis dan Saab Narong Saab. Masih ada lagi kelab-kelab yang tidak dapat hadir dan PMT tidak menolak kemungkinan sikap pesimis sesetengah perguruan masih menebal dan kurang yakin dengan sistem amatur ini.
PMT sedar tidak mudah untuk memberi kefahaman dan membawa pembaharuan dalam sukan Muaythai ini namun begitu yakin akan dapat menarik minat aktivis tomoi tempatan untuk tidak ketinggalan mempromosi Muaythai Amatur. Justeru itulah PMT akan mula mencanang gerakan membuka kelab-kelab muaythai amatur peringkat sekolah-sekolah dan menjayakan hasrat PMM demi kemajuan sukan ini di negeri Terengganu. Muaythai Amatur kini diterima masuk sebagai salah satu sukan kombat yang dibenarkan dibuka untuk dipelajari di sekolah-sekolah Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia.
